I use a 12 volt battery, like a lantern style. You must disconnect the resistance motor at the wiring connection, you put two jumper cables on the 12 volt battery one on the positive and one on the negative. Then connect positive to the yellow wire on the harness and connect the negative to the blue wire on the harness. You may need to cut a paper clip to use it to stick into the harness holes. They are very small. This is a 2 SECOND TEST ONLY, DO NOT LEAVE THE BATTERY CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR. BECAUSE IT WILL DESTROY THE RESISTANCE MOTOR IF YOU LEAVE IT ON TO LONG. As soon as you make the connection the motor should start to turn, if it does not its bad.

How Do You Recalibrate a Nordic Track Treadmill?

Tech Tip; Please make sure you recalibrate your treadmill after installing ANY controller, motor or console. You can NOT over calibrate your treadmill. You want to make sure you adjust your pedometer for the correct operating speed and incline adjustment. Don't know how to calibrate? It's in your owner’s manual. Or read it here. Plug in your treadmill, do not stand on the walking belt. Hold down the "Stop" and "Speed +" key and insert the safety key or magnet, let go of the two keys. Now press "Stop" key once. This puts you into the level 2 of calibration. Press the "Speed +" key slowly until you see 85 on the console, (at this point the display is going to show the percentage of motor usage and also the actual walking belt speed) at 85% motor usage your top speed should be between 10 and 10.5 MPH or (of 12 and 12.5) depending on the treadmill. You must know your treadmills top speed. (Important the motor may be damaged if you set the maximum speed higher than the maximum speed that your treadmill is made for). If the speed is higher than 10.5 or 12.5 then you need to turn the potentiometer down to the correct level. If the speed it to low you need to turn the potentiometer higher. Once the speed is correct you are done calibrating the speed. Press the (-) speed key to lower the percentage to (0). Next press the incline (+) button, this will make the incline motor go all the way to the maximum incline and come all the way down to the level position. Then remove the safety key and the treadmill will reset into the normal manual mode, when you re-insert the safety key.

Treadmill Repair

> I think I need a new motor control board for my treadmill. Count how many turns you loosen each side. I usually loosen the Left and Right side 15 turns each. Cut open the silicone and apply in a serpentine motion between the deck and the under side of the walking belt. Re-tighten the left and right side rear roller bolts, the same amount of turns that you had loosened them. Start the treadmill at about 2 - 3 mph. DO NOT START WALKING ON THE TREADMILL YET. With the treadmill on make sure that the walking belt re-tracks to about the same side clearance to each of the side rails on both the left and right sides. If you need to adjust. Put your allen wrench back into the side that needs adjusting (the side that the walking belt is leaning to) and put the allen wrench at the 12:00 o'clock position. Then turn a 1/4 turn clockwise. You will see the walking belt start to move back to center. When it's straight, try the treadmill. That's it your done.
